Role: Technical Business Analyst
Location: Calgary, AB, Canada (Onsite 4 days/week)
Job Type: Contract
Pay Rate: $80-$110/hr incorporated
Work Authorization: Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Job Description:

As a Technical Business Analyst, you will collaborate with both technical and business teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. You will work closely with the development team to ensure that products meet business needs. The ideal candidate is a technically proficient and business-savvy professional with excellent communication skills.

Duties:

• Collaborate with the project manager to develop project scope and timeline.
• Analyze and interpret user requirements, user stories, use cases, and system architecture documents.
• Participate in design and testing activities, review code, and assist in system implementations.
• Maintain and document systems, perform data validation checks, and ensure diligence in data review.
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation of business processes, policies, and procedures.
• Identify, quantify, and document business process improvements.
• Analyze and document user interface issues.
• Create user documentation including process flows, roles, responsibilities, and use cases.
• Train users on system processes and applications.
• Identify and resolve system-specific issues through research and analysis.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Research and analyze new technologies to recommend appropriate solutions.
• Gather, analyze, and document customer information, needs, and existing processes.
• Develop and communicate technical requirements, including design, build, and test plans.
• Identify, validate, and mitigate technology risks.
• Develop innovative, efficient, effective, and scalable solutions.
• Evaluate usability and scalability of solutions.
• Work with business stakeholders and IT to implement changes.
• Design, document, test, and implement software solutions.
• Execute and support infrastructure audits and reviews.
• Track and report on project metrics.
• Develop, maintain, and document project plans.
• Manage, document, and support project schedules.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst or in a similar role.
• Proven experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, user stories, and documentation.
• Experience working with technical teams and understanding of system architecture.
• Previous experience in the energy sector is a plus.
• Proficiency in business analysis tools and methodologies.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Experience with data analysis and validation.
• Familiarity with project management tools and software (e.g., JIRA, Microsoft Project).
• Basic knowledge of programming languages and database management is an advantage.
